What Happens At The Hospital |

- Go directly to University Medical Center (UMC) – 1800 West Charleston (Charleston and Rancho) – enter the Adult Emergency Room and advise the triage / intake personal that you have been sexually assaulted. At this point, they will escort you to a private room. You will be seen as a priority patient. If you are unsure of where to go, please call The Rape Crisis Center hotline – 702-366-1640
- Your vital signs will be taken by a triage nurse and you will be given a hospital wrist band.
- You will be met by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
- A full body, external and internal, exam will be performed. This is when evidence collection will happen. There will be photographs taken of you and of any injuries on and inside your body.
- An Advocate from The Rape Crisis Center will meet you at the hospital and assist you through the process.
- You will meet with a Sexual Assault Police Detective to discuss the crime. It is your choice if you wish to press charges, but a police report will be taken.
- You will be offered antibiotics to help prevent many Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
- You will be offered The Morning After Pill to help prevent pregnancy – it is YOUR CHOICE if you accept and take this pill.
