The Rape Crisis Center provides advocacy at UMC hospital to any person who has been sexually assaulted. Advocacy at the hospital includes, but is not limited to, talking to the client about what has happened to them, giving information for follow up care after the exam at the hospital, explaining the process with the police and medical care. |

The Rape Crisis Center Staff Advocates and Volunteer Advocates are bound by confidentiality rules. This means, anything you discuss with your advocate is kept confidential. The only things that must be reported are, threats of suicide or self harm, threats to harm another person, child abuse, and elder abuse |

When requested by a client who is appearing in court or has been subpoenaed for a court appearance, The Rape Crisis Center will provide an advocate to attend the court proceedings with a client. Having an advocate with you shows the court that you are serious about pursuing your case and that you have the needed support to proceed. |

The Rape Crisis Center offers free support groups to meet the needs of those who have been affected by sexual violence. These support groups are not therapy, nor should replace therapy. The groups are facilitated by the Staff of The Rape Crisis Center and are open to all who may need to know they are not alone in the healing process. - Survivor Support Group – Every Thursday – 5:30 – 7:00 pm. This group is for anyone who has been a victim or is survivor of sexual violence.
- Secondary Support Group – This group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm. This group is for anyone who knows a survivor of sexual assault – family, friends, significant others – who need support in supporting the survivor.
- Spanish Support Group – This group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. This group is for survivors and their families of sexual violence who speak Spanish.
- Male Support Group - This group meets the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 10 am - 12:00 pm. This group is for male survivors of sexual violence.

The Rape Crisis Center has a 24 hour hotline with trained staff and volunteer advocates available at any time – day or night.
